WIRRAL maintained their excellent form in South Lancashire/Cheshire One League with a 27-19 success at Sale.

Anselmians suffered their first defeat, 22-15 at Ormskirk where Alan Hughes and John Close scored tries and Simon Mason booted over a penalty and a conversion.
Hoylake largely disappointed in a 25-19 home defeat at the hands of Oswestry. Steve Young landed four penalties and added the goal after a Matt McLaren try.
Sefton saw off Trentham 44-15 in Division Two. Gareth Williams, Jamie Corlett, David Carr, Peter McBride, Brian Gardiner and Stu Bailey all breached the visitors’ rearguard and Dave Almond was successful with four of the conversions and a couple of penalties.
The Wallasey versus Ashton-on-Mersey match was abandoned soon after half-time when the lady referee suffered an injury and could not continue. The visitors were ahead 15-0.
Prenton cruised in 39-0 against Congleton in the Cheshire Plate. Jamie Newman and Andy Johnson scored two tries apiece. James Walsh, Gareth Knapman and Rich Burley also went in with Knapman and Johnson landing a conversion each.
Parkonians fell 26-8 at home to Holmes Chapel. Terry Williams scored a try and a penalty for the hosts.
