Cullen swoops to bring trio to Widnes

WIDNES coach Paul Cullen has swooped to bring in three new faces as the club looks to bolster its squad following the exit of a host of stars including Scottish international John Duffy.

Former Wigan Warriors half-back Thomas Coyle has signed from Oldham, with former Viking Gareth Haggerty, who was released at the end of this season by Harlequins, re-joining the Club having originally signed as a 16-year-old.

Cullen has also brought in highly-rated back-rower Chris Gerrard from Wigan.

Cullen said: “I’m delighted to welcome an experienced forward like Gareth and an exciting youngster like Chris to the Club.”

Vikings’ sporting director Terry O’Connor added: “Thomas is a good player who has had a really good season with Oldham. We wanted to wait until hos commitments there were finished before announcing his signing.”

More signings at the Stobart are expected to be announced in the next few weeks.
