Macc test for Waterloo

WITH a 17-12 win over Hull Ionians under their belts, Waterloo travel to top of National Two North Macclesfield this Saturday.

The Blundellsands side have been improving steadily since the beginning of the season and following the signing of prop Bruno Pani one of director of rugby Steve Moore’s chief concerns should be eased.

“We have been short of firepower up front and for us to be as competitive as possible we need a platform for our back-row and very talented backs to thrive off,” he said.

“That means that we should be operating with at least five if not six quality front row players and three or four quality second rows in the squad.”

However with Argentina loose-head prop returning to the club and Jason Harrison expected back next week we should be in a stronger position in that area.”

Moore also confirmed that he is in discussions with a top quality tight head whom he is hoping to sign by the end of the month.
