McGuire: Hat-trick is too close to call

LEEDS stand-off Danny McGuire believes Saturday’s engage Super League Grand Final against St Helens is a 50-50 call.

The Rhinos are the 4-7 favourites to complete a first hat-trick of Super League title wins, but McGuire reckons it could be too close to call. “This week in training it’s been really relaxed and we perform at our best when we’re relaxed,” he said.

“But Saints are a fantastic side. They were top of the league for most of the year and obviously we caught them at the back end.

“If you look at it from an outsider’s point of view, it’s a 50-50 game.”

Leeds overhauled their rivals during a late-season surge that brought them 11 wins from their last 12 matches.

McGuire added: “It’s important to time your run-in and so the coaching staff taking care of our health have done a fantastic job.”
