QUARTERBACK Tom Brady compared playing at Wembley last night with appearing in a Super Bowl after leading the New England Patriots to a 35-7 rout of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Brady, who knows plenty about Super Bowls having won three with the Pats, threw for 308 yards and three touchdowns as New England overpowered the winless Buccaneers before a sell-out crowd of more than 84,000.
“It was like a Super Bowl, all the flashbulbs going off and the fans waving their flags for the first five minutes of the game, you don’t see that too often,” Brady said.
“It was obviously very exciting for the fans.
“It’s also a real privilege for the players to come over here and enjoy that kind of experience.”
Heavily favoured in the build-up, the Patriots, although far from flawless, delivered in a convincing rout of a Tampa Bay team that has much rebuilding to do.
While the previous two NFL games played here were nail biters that were decided late in the fourth quarters, the result of this one seemed inevitable as soon as Patriots’ Brandon Meriweather ran back an interception for a touchdown after only two and a half minutes.
“Hopefully the fans really enjoyed it,” Brady added.
