New Brighton hope to overturn Aspatria following disapointing draw with Altrincham Kersal

NEW BRIGHTON again paid dearly for lack of discipline as they played out a 15-15 North One West League draw with Altrincham Kersal at Hartsfield.

It is a game the Blues should have won despite again being forced to field a below-strength side. They did have the satisfaction of scoring tries via Anthony Birley and Paul Lewis but in the end five penalty kicks saved the day for the East Cheshire side.

There is now a gap to the top of the table but it is far from unsurmountable, especially if they play to their best ability away to lowly Aspatria this Saturday.

Skipper Kati Tuipulotu is still away and others in the squad will be missing on Saturday which is Tongan National Day. But on the credit side, the Blues have this week registered students Tom Charnley (ex-Spalding) and Mohammed Mustafa (ex-Middlesbrough) who should be available for forward duty.
