SALFORD CITY REDS have signed goalkicking centre Stephen Tyrer on a season-long loan from St Helens.
The 20-year-old spent the 2009 season on loan to Celtic Crusaders alongside St Helens teammate Matty Smith and has now followed him to The Willows.
Tyrer will link-up with Salford when Shaun McRae’s squad report for pre-season training on November 16.
Salford director of football Steve Simms said: “Stephen has played a lot of Super League and comes from good rugby league stock at St Helens.
“We are delighted to have him on board. He brings a wealth of options for us and he will be looking to show everybody what he is truly capable of.”
WIDNES VIKINGS have been given a warning by the Rugby Football League after fans invaded the pitch at Bloomfield Road at the end of the Northern Rail Cup final victory in July.
The Vikings were handed a £500 fine, which was suspended for 12 months, after being found guilty of breaching the League’s operational rules on misconduct of spectators.
