YOUTH and super fitness – as you would expect from full-time sports students – proved decisive as the National Two North leaders beat Waterloo in an 11-try rout at the university ground.

The students took a 17-0 lead early in the opening half but the visitors came into the game with a try from Naom Dubart.. Liam McGovern added the conversion but the home side crossed again to restore the difference before Waterloo got Carl Nolan over, McGovern again successful with the conversion to keep the visitors in contention 24-14 at the break.

Three quick tries and two conversions at the beginning of the second half put the game beyond reach but Waterloo refused to concede with a try from Adam Anderson on the back of a powerful run by Paul Banahan, Reeve coming into the line to create the overlap was a spirited effort.

Unfortunately the last twenty minutes again exposed the Merseysiders achilles heal as the home side ran in five further tries.
