MACCLESFIELD brought their A-game to Paton Field this weekend and seemed to force Caldy into making silly little errors that eventually cost them the game.
The first-half was tight and Caldy went into the dressing rooms 11-3 up after a fantastic breakaway try from Gavin Roberts who collected a high Vasey ball and out-ran four Macclesfield defenders just before the interval.
Unfortunately, after the break Macclesfield came out with fire in their bellies and just seemed more hungry for the win.
Anthony Howcroft ran through the Caldy centres almost unopposed to put the ball between the sticks for teammate Charles Winney to convert who also went on to land two more penalties.
Caldy went close to scoring a late try but the Macclesfield line held firm as they claimed a 16-11 win.
