FORMER Manly scrum half Michael Monaghan is set to become Warrington’s first-choice hooker in 2010.
International hookers Mickey Higham and Jon Clarke were both passed over in favour of Monaghan when the club’s squad numbers were revealed yesterday.
Monaghan made a successful switch to hooker this year when injuries struck both Clarke and Higham, culminating in his Lance Todd Trophy-winning display as man of the match in the Wolves’ Challenge Cup final triumph.
Tyrone McCarthy and another hooker, Alex Thompson have been handed spots in coach Tony Smith’s 27-strong squad, along with prop Adam Neal.
