BOTH Chester and New Brighton face re-arranged league fixtures this Saturday on what otherwise would have been a free weekend.
Chester are due at Beverley in National Three North while New Brighton face North One West leaders Lymm at Hartsfield.
It has been a good season to date for Chester but they need to win in Yorkshire to stay in the top four in their division.
New Brighton will need to up the ante if they are to have a chance against Lymm.
The absence of skipper Kati Tuipulotu has been keenly felt and recent defeats has led to them dropping down the table and losing confidence.
The Blues could have been involved in the Cheshire Vase semi-final at Northwich this weekend but both clubs decided to count the league clash at Moss Farm in two weeks’ time as a double header.
DISAPPOINTINGLY, New Brighton did not stage their traditional Boxing Day clash against the Old Birkonian Presidents XV.
Travelling doubts because of the cold weather meant that the Old Boys could not guarantee fielding a side but hopefully this popular annual fixture will go ahead in 12 months’ time.
