A TOTALLY committed and absorbing bottom of the table ‘dog fight’ was won 8-17 by Bradford and Bingley who now move six points clear of Waterloo leaving the Merseysiders with it all to do if they are to avoid relegation.
Waterloo took the game to the opposition right from the kickoff, a forceful break by Njike Tchakacoute taking play into the Bradford ‘22’ but with Waterloo slow to arrive the visitors turned the ball over allowing Steven Brimacombe to clear his lines.
Having ridden the early storm the Bradford started to come into the game, a neat grubber through from Tom Davidson providing the opening try for Rob Almond, the winger chasing to the line.
Waterloo came back through their pack but a series of infringements allowed the visitors to extended their lead with two penalties from Davidson.
Power play again by the home pack once again took play into the Bradford ‘22’ where a penalty from Noam Dubart gave his side a lifeline 3-11 at the break.
In the second half two penalties from Davidson sealed the game but Waterloo got the score they deserved, a break by Dubart creating the opening for Paul Banahan to cross in the corner.
