Caldy Rugby Club ‘raring to go’ after weeks of inactivity

WITH pitches either frozen or covered in snow since the end of last month the Caldy team has enjoyed a rather prolonged Christmas break this season.

Last week, Caldy were scheduled to host Harrogate at Paton Field but because of the plummeting temperatures the snow never had a chance to thaw and the beautiful, yet impractical, blanket of snow remained and prevented play.

This weekend, Caldy are looking forward to a game away at Bradford and are keeping their fingers crossed that the weather is forgiving.

Director of rugby Matt Holt said: “The lack of games has been unfortunate, but it’s given us time to work on a few things and the boys are raring for a game.

“We managed to beat Bradford 45-7 at home, but we are under no illusions; they’ve had some close games and a few good wins since then so we are not going to underestimate them.”

CALDY’S second XV are away to Chester and the third XV will be kicking off at 2.15pm at home to Northwich.
