Widnes Rugby Club eager to exorcise ghosts of second-half demise against Hoylake

IT is going to have to be fourth time lucky for Widnes if they have any hope of returning to action at home to Hoylake this Saturday in South Lancs Cheshire One.

Games against Warrington (twice) and more recently Sale have all been postponed because of the weather, and has meant that, like most other clubs, Widnes have now been left kicking their heels since December 12.

Whether the game goes ahead or not, Lee McDermott’s players will have had their eye on this return fixture for some time. They need no reminding that back in October they somehow managed to throw away a 20-3 interval lead, coughing it up in the second half to lose 27-20.
