AFTER a 42 day absence Liverpool St Helens hope to resume North One West action this Saturday when Vale of Lune visit Moss Lane. Martin Jones’ outfit will be looking for a repeat of the performance earlier in the season when they returned from Powder House Lane with a 36-19 win.
Jones has kept his squad ticking over during the enforced layoff but like everyone else has found it hard to replicate outdoor and match practice. “We’ve certainly put in the hours” he said, “but there’s only so much you can do in these indoor sessions. We are stepping up a gear this week in readiness for a tough encounter on Saturday.”
Although Matt Cunliffe and Geoff Foulkes are still injured, James Cashman is now fully recovered from the shoulder injury picked up in the game against Blackburn in October.
Cashman was denied a run out with the seconds last Saturday because of the weather and it will be interesting to see where the influential flanker features in LSH’s plans this week.
Powerful prop Jan Lourens now returned from his seasonal break in his native South Africa.
