IT has not been the best of starts to 2010 for New Brighton with home defeats to Lymm and Sandbach.
The Blues were not expected to prevail against runaway North 1 West league leaders Lymm but they could and should have beaten mid-table Sandbach at the weekend.
In the end they fell 21-15 after conceding two tries through poor defending and failing to turn their own pressure into points.
In the end they had to settle for tries via Loa Topou and Paul Roberts plus five points from the boot of Paul Lewis.
They will expect better when they visit Tyldesley this Saturday.
THE Blues have re-arranged two recently postponed fixtures. They will entertain Wilmslow on February 27 and go to Northwich on April 17.
SKIPPER Kati Tuipulotu is making progress after his broken arm and the influential Tongan could soon be back in contention. Scrum-half Alan Hesketh has also re-joined the club.
