CHESTER resumed action in National 3 North with a hard-earned 14-10 victory at Cleckheaton.
There was never much between the sides and Chester at times had to call on all their defensive qualities to survive.
Back-row man Andy Moore was awarded the man-of-the-match prize by the home club but he must have been run close by stand-off Rhys Hayes who has been a real influence this season.
Hayes landed a trio of penalties at Cleckheaton and was unlucky to strike an upright with the conversion attempt after a Dave Legat try.
RE-ARRANGED games for Chester include a trip to Beverley on February 2 and a home derby against Birkenhead Park on February 27.
THIS Saturday, Chester look to maintain their top four placing at the expense of visiting Darlington Mowden Park.
