WEST PARK like many other clubs had their hopes of getting their home league programme well and truly dashed by another bout of Arctic weather.
Chairman of Rugby Ian Worsley and his squad were left frustrated by the late decision not to play their game against fellow strugglers Cleckheaton despite the Yorkshire side making the trek over the Pennines.
Both captains and the referee tested every inch of the pitch just before kick off time only to decide in the end that there were parts that were simply too hard to risk.
”It was very frustrating.”Club spokesman Eric Briers commented.
”The Yorkshire lads had the state of ground explained clearly early in the morning and they were prepared to travel.
There was at least one piece of good news for the Red Rocks’ side and that was that Adam Glover who had collapsed in training last week had made a full recovery and had been given the nod by his doctor to play.
Birkenhead Park also in National 3 North had their game at the Upper Park against Sheffield Tigers postponed whilst Chester beat the weather by playing on their vet’s pitch.
