LOCAL RUGBY UNION: Chester were one of only a handful of teams to play at the weekend

CHESTER were amongst only four clubs to play in National Three North League last Saturday and enhanced their third placed position with a hard earned win over visiting Darlington Mowden Park.

The outcome was always in the balance but Chester edged in front with the only try of the second period in the 71st minute via an Andy Moore touch-down. Rhys Hayes converted and the home side then hung on under pressure for the victory.

Sean Green gained a runaway first-half try for Chester and Hayes added the goal and a penalty. The visitors managed a converted try and two penalties. Liam Lawton was man of the match.
