NOT for the first time this season West Park found themselves blighted by the weather last Saturday.
Frustration again became the name of the game particularly this time since opponents Cleckheaton had come over the Pennines hoping that the morning sun would do the trick. It didn’t in the end.
“After the morning inspection the option was given to our opponents and they decided to risk it,” Press officer Eric Briers explained.
“After warming up for an hour while Park’s ground staff worked to break up the frosted areas with the referee Andy Daniels present, the teams decided the improvement had not been sufficient.”
It all means that West Park along with most other sides now have a backlog of games to be fitted in and it will be no surprise if the season isn’t extended towards May.
Fortunately with the 6 Nations Championship starting this coming Saturday with England hosting Wales at Twickenham with a 5pm start,West Park are able to take on Birkenhead Park in a rearranged National Division Three North encounter.
West park should have prop Adam Glover back in the frame.
