DAVE ALEXANDER was the first of three West Cheshire AC finishers at the final round of the Manchester Area Cross Country League.

The purple-vested distance-running ace finished 19th in the senior race and covered the Wythenshawe Park course in a time of 34 minutes.

Dave finished third in the over-40 veteran age group, while club mate Andrew Clague finished ninth in the same age category and 55th overall with a time of 36:31.

Dave Hough completed the club threesome, finishing sixth in the over 60 age group and 161st overall with a time of 44:16.

TWELVE West Cheshire AC members have been selected to represent their county at the North West Regional Sportshall Final, to be held at Robin Park Sports Centre, Wigan, on Sunday, February 28.

Northern Indoor Championship medallists Amy Williams, Kelly Baker and Olivia Montez-Brown have all been selected to represent Cheshire.

Ryan Jones will be the only West Cheshire under-15 boy in action at Wigan, while Jack Simcox, Leon Langmead, Alex Kirk, and Daniel Vickers will represent the Cheshire under-13 boys team.

FOUR winning high school teams will represent the Ellesmere Port, Neston and Helsby School Sports Partnership at next month’s Cheshire and Warrington County Indoor Athletics Final.

Helsby High will be represented in the year seven boys, year seven girls, and year eight girls competitions in the final, while UCE Academy’s year eight boys are also through to the final to be held on Thursday, March 11.
