Ex-Chester RUFC star Ben Foden has England hopes

ENGLAND'S ‘Mr Versatile’, 24-year-old Ben Foden, cannot wait to get the nod from England manager Martin Johnson.

He had to sit out on the replacement bench last Saturday watching his teammates claw out a hard-earned win against rivals Wales at Twickenham.

Many of his supporters would like to see him get a chance for his cap sooner rather than later.

He would certainly bring some extra dynamic pace to the England back division since he has been showing sparkling form at Northampton with the Saints since joining Jim Mallinder's squad from Sale Sharks.

Foden started his career at the Chester club amongst the juniors and alongside his father who has been in the thick of coaching in the region for sometime.

When he joined Premiership club Sale he and his father were convinced that his future would be as a scrum-half but director of rugby Philip St Andre thought differently.

Eventually, Foden decided to move to the Midlands and has gradually realised at Northampton that his utility qualities – as a full-back especially – is the way forward.

Many commentators are certain it will not be long before he enters the fray wearing the white jersey.
