TWELVE West Cheshire AC members have been selected to represent their county this weekend at the North West Regional Sportshall Final at Robin Park Sports Centre, Wigan.

Northern Indoor Championship medallists Amy Williams, Kelly Baker, and Olivia Montez-Brown have all been selected to represent Cheshire at the Wigan fixture on Sunday.

Amy, who won a gold medal in the under-15 girls long jump at Sheffield, will participate in the under-13 girls squad alongside Chloe Hunt and Charlotte Williamson.

Ryan Jones will be the only West Cheshire under-15 boy in action at Wigan, while Jack Simcox, Leon Langmead, Alex Kirk, and Daniel Vickers will represent the Cheshire under-13 boys team.

Three West Cheshire AC distance runners have topped their age group categories in recently produced 2009 road running performances by Cheshire club runners.

Kathleen Osborne was the fastest lady in the over-60 age group at the 5k distance and Mary Radford was the fastest over-60 Cheshire club runner for five miles.

Brian Beattie was the fastest Cheshire runner in the over-65 men’s age category for the half marathon distance.

A summary of road running in Cheshire during 2009 shows that numbers of senior and older West Cheshire AC male members active in road running in the last two years has increased by 16 compared to 2007/08, the second highest increase for any Cheshire club.

The number active in 2009 was four more than 2008, and the number of active senior and older females in West Cheshire increased by six for the same period.
