CHESTER Jets coach Paul Smith hailed the consistency of Colin O’Reilly and Chez Marks as they bid for a repeat over PAWS London Capital at the Northgate Arena on Sunday.
Jets won 112-68 at the same venue earlier this season, while the only time the Capital have overcome the Chester side was back in the 2007-08 season, when they took the game 82-69.
The Jets have won seven out of the eight fixtures between the clubs in BBL history. Ahead of the game head coach Smith came out in support of O’Reilly and Marks, whom he feels have been his most consistent performers this year.
He said: “Colin and Chez have probably been our most consistent players. Consistency is something we have struggled with as a team, and not many of our players have managed to perform week in week out.”
Smith also gave his thoughts on the league title race, between Newcastle and Sheffield, and the chances that each side has of winning it.
He added: “I think it is very tight between Eagles and Sharks. It’s hard to predict between them and it may well come down to the game where they play each other. I think you would have to say Mike Cook at the moment is the outstanding player in this league. His stats are excellent and he is doing it on a winning team.”
