Spirited Waterloo still marooned at the bottom after defeat to Harrogate

WATERLOO belied their bottom of the league position with another spirited performance but another defeat leaves them firmly at the bottom of the National Two North table, 10 below the next club Bradford and Bingley and 17 off the relegation zone.

Waterloo were first on the scoresheet with a try from Liam McGovern.

Harrogate responded immediately with a try for Tim Heaton, converted by Joe Rowntree.

James O’Brien scorched through the home defence for a 60-metre try which he converted himself to restore the Waterloo’s lead.

But It was short-lived as a try from Simon Davies converted by Rowntree gave the home side a 14-12 lead at the break.

The Harrogate pack dominated the second half with tries from Dickie Davies and Ryan Peacy and Rowntree’s four conversions rounded off the win.
