DESPITE losing 34-17 West Park can take a number of positives from their performance against league pacesetters Stockport who took an early lead with a try in the corner.
Warren Hunt reduced the deficit with a penalty as the visitors collapsed a maul with Paul Sherry claiming a try after the pack had driven over the line to give Park the lead.
Just before the break, the Greater Manchester XV came back with a converted try and a penalty to make the score 17-10 at the break.
Early on in the second-half, West Park levelled the scores with a try from Joe Bailey after good phase play from both packs and forwards resulting in a penalty under the posts from where the pack drove over.
Unfortunately with both Joe Bailey and Mike Milward sin-binned Stockport took advantage to add a further try and a penalty leaving West Park chasing the game. Although the home side had opportunities they were unable to convert them into points.
In the closing minutes Stockport’s backs cut free again and scored to take the game.
