VICKY GRIFFITHS has received a boost ahead of this weekend’s World Indoor Championships after being selected to receive mentoring from double Olympic champion Dame Kelly Holmes.
The 25-year-old Liverpool Harrier has flown to Doha to prepare for the first senior international event of her blossoming career.
Griffiths is one of five athletes picked to join the successful ‘On Camp with Kelly’ initiative which has been sponsored by Aviva since it began in 2004.
“I am really pleased to be selected as I’ll be able to learn from one of the best athletes in the world,” Griffiths said.
“Kelly has achieved something all athletes dream of and is an inspirational role model for me. This is a fantastic opportunity for me.”
Meanwhile, Wirral’s Andy Baddeley won the 5000m at the IAAF World Challenge Meeting in Melbourne in a lifetime best of 13:20.85. and Liverpool Pembroke Sefton’s U15 boys clinched the team title at the final Mid-Lancs Cross Country League match at Barrow.
