HIGH-FLYING Warrington Wolves ground down their hosts to win 29-10 at the KC Stadium.
It was not until the final 10 minutes that Warrington made certain of victory but they did not look in danger of losing after Richie Myler touched down early in the second half.
Michael Monaghan added another before Chris Hicks followed up his two first-half tries to complete a hat-trick.
Lee Briers also caught the eye on his return to action from an ankle injury, scoring nine points and creating much of the Wolves’ attacking play.
Assistant coach James Lowes said: “It was a very good win. We have had a good Easter, to come away with four points.
“We have still got a lot of work to do on controlling the ball but after a big effort on Friday, both teams backed it up and put on what was a very good game.
“With and without the ball, I thought both teams were strong.”
On the performance of Briers, Lowes added: “I thought he looked good, a bit of spark that added to the team.
“He slotted in well but he is still carrying a little niggle.”
Hull are waiting to learn the extent of an injury to Sean Long after their star scrum-half limped out.
The former St Helens ace left the field midway through the first half and his loss was keenly felt as the
Hull were already missing five players from Friday’s draining defeat of derby rivals Hull KR and they now face an anxious week before Sunday’s trip to Leeds.
Coach Richard Agar said: “He went over on his ankle. It is too early to say at this stage but it was too uncomfortable for him.
“We will get him checked up tonight.
Agar added: “We have had some walking wounded this week but I think we are lucky in that, if it had been a seven-day turnaround, most would have played.”
