WEST CHESHIRE AC’s youngsters will be looking to capitalise on home advantage next month in a bid to stave off the threat of relegation.

The Chester and Ellesmere Port club finished third behind Liverpool Harriers and Preston in their National Young Athletes Track and Field League Premier Division third round match staged at Wavertree which leaves West Cheshire needing to secure a home win from the final round to be held at Stanney Oaks, Ellesmere Port, on Sunday, July 18.

Amy Williams spearheaded the under-13s girls team with victories in the 75m hurdles (11.5 seconds), 150m (20.2), and a new league age group record-breaking long jump of 5.33m.

Amy was joined by Charlotte Williamson, Georgia Barlow, Samhilda McGonigle, Natasha Tudor, Emily Ball, Amy Hinchley.

James McMahon clocked a winning U13s boys 75m hurdles of 14.7 seconds, won the high jump with 1-41m.

Olivia Montez-Brown won the under-15s girls 75m hurdles (11.4), and the long jump (5.14m).

Cameron Clarke won the U15s boys javelin with 40.11m.

Victoria Anderson posted 12.3 seconds for success in the U17s women’s 80m hurdles alongside B winner Alice Jennings (12.5).

Olivia Montez-Brown and Kelly Baker posted victories representing Cheshire Schools at the Maston Trophy Inter-Counties Match staged at Birmingham’s Alexander Stadium.

Olivia clocked 11.5 seconds for success in the 75m hurdles, and Kelly posted a winning shot put of 10.58m.

Fixtures this weekend include the English Schools Regional Combined Events Championships at Telford on Saturday and Sunday.
