MULTI-TALENTED Olivia Montez-Brown will round off a busy season with a National Championship appearance.
The West Cheshire AC all-rounder has been crowned Cheshire Schools’ Combined Events champion after winning the junior girls pentathlon title at Telford in the regional round event.
She scored 2993 points which featured a time of 11.4 seconds in the 75m hurdles, 8.40m in the shot, a 1.50m clearance in the high jump, a leap of 5.05m in the long jump, and an 800m time of two minutes 35 seconds, and contributed towards Cheshire winning the overall combined events schools trophy for the fourth year in a row.
Montez-Brown won the North of England under-15 girls 75m hurdles title with a winning time of 11.66 seconds at Leigh last month, and added a bronze medal from her long jump appearance with a leap of 4.93m.
Dave Alexander was first home for West Cheshire AC at the first race of Deestriders Off Road Grand Prix Series at Shotton.
Alexander claimed third spot with a time of 29 minutes two seconds.
The West Cheshire AC trio of Dave Alexander, Andrew Clague and Jeff Kettle finished third in a time of 60 minutes 53 seconds at the Tattenhall Tough Team Event.
Laura Bestow of West Cheshire, teamed up with Vale Royal duo Gemma Barnet and Barry Chambers to secure 24th place in a time of 78:28, and the West Cheshire threesome of Chris Cain, Tony Kennedy, and Brian Beattie finished 30th in 80:33.
FIXTURES: The Cheshire County AA Track Relay Championships at Crewe’s Cumberland Stadium on Saturday (11am start). West Cheshire AC members requiring transport are reminded that a coach will leave Stanney Oaks Track Car Park, Ellesmere Port, at 9am.
West Cheshire AC’s Northern Senior Track and Field League squad will compete at Longford Park, Stretford, on Sunday (11.45am start).
