Jenson Button laughs off disharmony between McLaren team-mate Lewis Hamilton ahead of British Grand Prix

JENSON BUTTON has admitted to “wetting himself” after yesterday reading all the headlines regarding his relationship with Lewis Hamilton.

In the build-up to this weekend’s British Grand Prix, the McLaren team-mates have been at pains to point out they are working well together despite their status in the standings.

Heading into Sunday’s Silverstone showdown in front of a 120,000-strong crowd, in what is a dream scenario for the British public, Hamilton leads the way by just six points over Button.

Yet there are those who believe the harmony and accord that exists between them cannot go on, that it will fall apart at some stage.“I was wetting myself when I saw the paper. It’s hilarious.

“We did this promo thing in a VW campervan today and stopped at a petrol station on the way up, handing out grandstand tickets. So we rocked up there and the newspaper was open on this page with a love heart around us, and I just thought ’that’s hilarious’. I love that. It’s good. I always love the lead up to the British Grand Prix.”

Naturally, as Formula One’s last two world champions and in light of their current positions, the spotlight has focused sharply on the British pair as their home race has drawn near.

Button is just naturally thrilled the time for the talking to stop and the action to start will come to an end tomorrow with two 90-minute practice sessions.
