HUYTON took over at the top of Division One in the Bromborough Paints Merseyside Competition with a 39 runs success at Cheshire Lines.
Previous leaders Old Xaverians went under by two wickets at Aigburth. Ian Dutton 5-36 and Paul O’Leary 44 did well for the winners. Ian Formby claimed 4-22 for Xavs.
Manweb came away six wickets to the good from Tranmere Vics who were dismissed for 103.
Kelvin Alleyne made an undefeated 41 and took 5-66 for the Merseyside Commonwealth in a draw at Port Sunlight. Brendan Woods 83 and Martin Naylor 4-62 were best for the soapmen.
Mossley Hill are the new leaders in Division Two following a two wickets victory at Singlehurst. Mark Bilbao led the way with 62.
Alan Phillips with 5-43 helped St Mary’s College Old Boys to a five wickets margin at Goodlass for whom Phil Morgan scored 65.
Manweb easily saw off Bromborough with Alan Gallimore 4-1 and Marty Wilcox 4-20 destroying the home batting line-up.
Runcorn returned to winning form in Division Two of the Meller Braggins Cheshire League with a 42 runs success at Bowden Vale.
Wirral in Division Three had a ten wickets win at Stretton while Parkonians came away from Chester County Officers three wickets to the good. with Rich Beckett 6-60, Nick Hitchell 68 and Tim Hitchell 45 at the head of affairs
