Bootle skipper David Snellgrove relishing Cockspur Rum Club Twenty20 national finals day

SKIPPER David Snellgrove admits he’s relishing the chance to lead his side out at the Rose Bowl after Bootle booked their place in the Cockspur Rum Club Twenty20 national finals day.

The Wadham Road outfit thrashed Chester Boughton Hall by nine wickets in the regional final on Sunday to secure a dream trip to the Test arena which will be broadcast live on Sky Sports on Thursday, September 23.

There will be two semi-finals and then the final with the overall champions winning a 10-day trip to Barbados in November.

Wimbledon and Swardeston are also through, while the fourth finalist will be either South Northumberland or Bracebridge Heath.

“It’s difficult to get my head around the fact I’ll be leading the guys out at the Rose Bowl live on Sky,” Snellgrove said. “It’s a fantastic opportunity for us and we can’t wait for it.

“For so long this summer this competition was just a bit of fun. I remember we went to Southport on a Thursday night at the start of the season and back then we would never have believed it would lead us to an amazing day out at the Rose Bowl.
