COLLEGIATE first XV were the only side in the region to play a game not held in the Isle of Man, due to their match versus Vagabonds being rearranged to be played at Burnage RUFC’s 3G pitch, which was a triumph.
By playing this game it means that the Aigburth side have one less game in their backlog due to the bad weather.
Despite all the problems in playing the match, compounded by Vagabonds’ flight being delayed by nearly two hours, Collegiate were able to take the points on the day and move themselves up to fifth position in the Division One table.
This was an excellent result having trailed 10-3 at half-time.
The dependable boot of Chris Lloyd came to the rescue as he nailed four penalties and a fantastic 40 metre drop goal in the final minute of the match to take his tally to 118 points for the season to date and deservedly be awarded with the man-of-the-match honour.
