Caldy face tough test at Leicester Lions

CALDY will need to up the ante if they are to get any reward from tomorrow’s tough trip to Leicester Lions in National Two North.

The Paton Field outfit did not get the start they wanted to the New Year with a heavy home reverse at the hands of Harrogate and tomorrow’s opponents are above them in the table, have a good home record and won the first clash 26-21.

Birkenhead Park bid to make it six wins in a row in National Three North when they journey to Middlesbrough. Veteran Shaun Gallagher is likely to be pushed into forward action after injury struck two players in the win over Penrith.

Also heading to the North East are second-placed Chester who will need to produce top form to match Darlington Mowden Park.

Sion Rowlands starts on the wing but other back division places are still to be finalised.

Waterloo, still in trouble near the foot of the table, will hope for some cheer from their trip to Rochdale who have lost all their 13 matches to date and have a minus 385 points ratio.

LSH will expect to maintain winning ways in North One West in the home derby against Leigh for which they have a full strength squad.

New Brighton should also win at home to Kirby Lonsdale who have no successes to date although they will be missing Sean Ellis and possibly Paul Lewis who were hurt at Burnage.

It will be more difficult for struggling West Park against Altrincham Kersal at Red Rocks and Wirral at Wigton. Anselmians take their unbeaten record in South Lancashire/Cheshire One to Bowdon.
