LSH to be honoured at Twickenham

TWO of Liverpool St Helens’ First Ladies are set for a big day out at Twickenham as guests of the RFU.

After enjoying the traditional lunch and drinks in the West Car Park, Trude Houghton and Elaine Smith are to receive LSH’s Whole Club Seal of Approval Award on the pitch during the half-time interval of the England-Scotland Calcutta Cup showdown on Sunday afternoon.

Trude has a lifetime of involvement at the club since starting as a Moss Lane cloakroom girl when aged 16 and is currently the LSH child welfare officer.

She said: “I’ve always enjoyed watching rugby, but never seen a live international before and I’m really looking forward to it.”

Elaine is registration secretary and treasurer of the mini-junior section and became involved with LSH four years ago when her son Adam, now in the under-10s, joined the mini section.

Elaine said: “I’m just looking forward to representing the club and enjoying the whole experience.”

LSH is one of the first 50 clubs in the country to receive this elite award which recognises the effort and achievement of volunteers in reaching the required standard of a club committed to the development of rugby across a whole club.

LSH chairman John Bithell said: “As well as being professional and thorough in everything they do, Trude and Elaine both work tirelessly for the club and really deserve to have a great day out.”
