DAVE ALEXANDER headed West Cheshire AC's charge at the penultimate round of the Borders Road Running League Series.
The distance-running ace covered the 4.5 miles course from Deeside College, Connah's Quay, in a time of 24 minutes 28 seconds to secure seventh place overall and second position in the over-40 men's age category.
He was backed up by Dave Tiernan (27th in 26:03), Adam Parr (39th in 26:37), Andrew Clague (51st in 27:08), Mark Davies (58th in 27:31), Neil Hershaw (82nd in 28:38), and Dave Hough (126th in 31:34) who completed the West Cheshire AC men's team. West Cheshire AC men, who were also represented by Geoff Harvey (216th in 42:06), finished second in their Division Two team competition and remain second overall ahead of the final round to be held at Wrexham, on Wednesday, April 27.
Lisa Davies (10th lady in 31:24) was the first of four West Cheshire AC women to complete the Deeside course, ahead of Lisa Ayling (54th lady in 39:53), Kath Osborne (57th lady in 40:59), and Mary Radford (61st lady in 42:16).
Matthew Rose (Buckley Runners) won the men's race in a time of 23:01, and Buckley's Erica Robinson was first lady, clocking 26:12.

MIKE PERCHARD represented West Cheshire AC at the Wilmslow Half Marathon and clocked 1:49:24 for 1,434th position.
HELSBY High School were represented at the English Schools Cross Country Cup Final staged at Alnwick, in Northumberland.
The Junior boys team of Marcus Lythgoe (second), Billy Young (50th), Adrian Bennett (90th), and Dominic Molyneux (97th) finished 15th.
Helsby's Intermediate Boys team finished 19th, thanks to Matthew Hulse (49th), Thomas Jacobson (53rd), Patrick Stradling (71st), and Tom Slijvic (95th).
