Neil McIntyre leads West Cheshire contingent in London Marathon

NEIL McINTYRE was the first of five West Cheshire AC members to finish the London Marathon.

McIntyre completed the 26 miles 385 yards race in testing warm temperatures with a time of three hours 33 minutes four seconds to finish in 4,351st place.

Tony Kennedy reached The Mall finishing line in 5,171st position with a time of 3:39:00, ahead of Lisa Davies who was 175th in her W40-44 age category with a time of 3:45:10.

Brian Beattie completed his 22nd London Marathon five seconds quicker than last year in a time of 3:54:05 for 25th position in his M65-69 age category, and Bob Benson claimed 245th place in the M55-59 age group with a time of 4:01.

Chris Rhodes was the other West Cheshire AC member to make the trip to the capital but he suffered a fall after eight miles and was unable to continue.

Several West Cheshire AC members laid down a marker for the season ahead at the Liverpool Harriers Throws and Jumps Meeting.

Jenni Potter powered her way to a new personal best throw of 32.97m in the hammer, and Danielle Erskine posted a new long jump best of 5.14m.

Kelly Baker hit 10.40m in the shot put, while Olivia Montez-Brown achieved 5.27m in the long jump, and 10.39m in the triple jump.

Yousef Khalifa long jumped 5.05m, while Dave McKay launched the javelin to a distance of 64.89m, and threw the hammer 43.08m.

Sam Rimmer scored 11.24m in the triple jump, and Andrew Gore catapulted himself to a pole vault clearance of 3.30m.

Elijah Montez-Brown delivered two victories at the Deeside AAC Open Track and Field Meeting.

He won the under 13 boys 100m in 14.9 seconds and clinched success in the long jump with 4.19m.

James McMahon (13.6) and Chris Harrop (13.9) finished first and second respectively in the under 15 boys 100m, and McMahon claimed a javelin victory with 23.58m and second spot in the long jump with 4.58m.
