West Cheshire AC facing busy summer programme

WEST CHESHIRE AC are preparing for a busy summer programme of events.

The Chester and Ellesmere Port-based club has played an active role in the community since being founded in 1998.

The creation of a six-lane all-weather track and field facility at Stanney Oaks Leisure Centre, Stanney Lane, Ellesmere Port, gave the organisation a huge boost when it was completed five years ago.

The arena has since hosted a string of club league matches, championships, and a series of important schools fixtures supported by the club.

West Cheshire AC’s Northern Senior Track and Field League squad will open their four-round campaign at Stanney on Saturday, May 7.

The men’s and women’s squad will be looking to match or better their qualification for the end of season Division Two promotion match this year.

Thrower and all-rounder Dave McKay will be spearheading the men’s contingent alongside multi-eventer John Manning, while Niamh Reilly and Nicola Gore will be aiming to make an impact for the women.

The Northern League team will travel to Warrington for their second round match on Saturday, June 4; before competing at Stretford for round three on Sunday, July 3; and concluding their league campaign at Stretford on Sunday, August 14.
