Tony Wilson plays key role as Aigburth scrape home against Cheshire Lones in the Bromborough Paints Merseyside Competition Division One

AIGBURTH scraped home by one wicket away to Cheshire Lines in Division One of the Bromborough Paints Merseyside Competition.

Tony Wilson played a key role with a 6-10 haul. Dave Jackson for Lines claimed 4-32.

Wayne Greve with 60 helped Port Sunlight to an eight-wicket victory at Huyton for whom Dave Conlon scored 77 and Muhamad Zahin an unbeaten 58.

Maritime were denied victory by the last Merseyside Commonwealth pair. Pratham Shetty scored 52 for the home side whilst best for the Commonwealth were Alagiah Suthakaran 5-30 and Ed Herbert 4-18.

Ian Carroll 57, Joe Lyons 43 and Gareth Holder 4-31 carried Old Xaverians to a 35 runs margin at Mossley Hill.

Birkenhead Park were crushed by nine wickets at Ashley in Division One of the Meller Braggins Cheshire League after being dismissed for a meagre 67.

Runcorn also fell by six wickets at Alvanley but posted a respectable 157.

Wirral and Ellesmere Port were winners in Division One of the Cheshire Alliance.
