STILL well in the running for the Chapel Press Cheshire County League’s ECB premiership title and through to the Cheshire Cup semi-finals, Hyde will on Sunday seek to progress in a national competition when they figure in the ECB T20 Cockspur Cup Area Finals Day at Longton in Staffordshire.
Hyde take on North Wales T20 champions Mochdre in the second semi-final following the clash of Longton and Birmingham League giants Old Hill earlier in the day, the two winners meeting in a 4pm final. The champions at Longton go through to the Regional finals on Bank Holiday Sunday.
Hyde dropped to third place in the League Premier Division after failing to beat Oxton and will not find it easy to make up lost ground at Urmston to-morrow. Leaders Nantwich go to Didsbury and second-placed Chester are at Oxton, whose skipper Lee Dixon has his eyes on at least fourth place. Chester are still without star batsman Warren Goodwin.
