AN UNBEATEN century from Steven Lucus (100*) cemented Ainsdale’s promotion place in the Bridging Finance Solutions LDCC Second Division after they beat Wavertree.
Lucus and Andy Barlow (56) shared a partnership of 146 for the second wicket as Ainsdale reached 204-3 declared. Barbadian Rachid O’Neale (3-56) claimed three wickets for Wavertree, but Nazim Mohammed (4-56) and Dhruv Singh (3-34) took the points for the home side, as the visitors were dismissed for 126.
Fleetwood Hesketh remain top after brushing aside a woeful Southport Trinity. Adnan Malik took six for 26 as Trinity were dismissed for just 81. The target was reached comfortably by the league leaders off just 15.2 overs and for the loss of two wickets.
Caldy recorded a big win over Skelmersdale after Stewart Pilley (5-52) and Rich Battersby (4-43) helped dismiss the visitors for 103. Caldy’s ever reliable Sunny Gandhi then smashed an unbeaten 73, as the Paton Field side won by eight wickets.
Bottom side Birkenhead St Mary’s compiled a rare win over Parkfield Liscard as the Ashville Road club celebrated only their second victory of the season. Mike Bowe (61) top scored as St Mary’s were all out for 173, with Matthew Keogh (6-59) and Grant Hughes (3-45) posting fine figures. In reply the visitors were bowled out for 150.
