AFTER building up a substantial lead in the opening half, it took a late Kevin Leadbetter penalty to give Widnes their first win in North One West.
They were red hot in the first 40 minutes, leading 25-12, thanks to tries from Borg, Liku, and Leadbetter.
In the second-half, Wigton chipped away at the visitors’ lead, eventually squaring things up at 25-25. However, Leadbetter calmly slotted over a late 35-metre penalty to get them home.
