FLEETWOOD HESKETH and Ainsdale confirmed their promotion from the Second Division after both sides pulled off big wins.
Fleetwood are champions following a demolition of sorry Sutton. Neil Rimmer (49 not out) top-scored as the home side declared on 221 for nine, despite some good bowling from John Dotters (4-84) and Liam Dodd (3-37). Paul Mullen then excelled with the ball with an incredible seven for 15, including a hat-trick for the last three wickets.
Ainsdale shrugged off last week’s Echo Knockout defeat to beat bottom side Birkenhead St Mary’s.
Malcolm Swift (4-62) and Tony Rogan (3-27) reduced St Mary’s to 131 all out.
Dhruv Singh (73) confirmed an excellent season for Ainsdale, who won by seven wickets.
Burscough will finish third after beating Parkfield Liscard by 30 runs. Michael Cooney (47) and Brendan Domigan (43) led the way as Burscough declared on 164 for six, with Grant Hughes (3-74) the leading Parkfield bowler.
Phillip Unsworth (4-8) and George Priestman (4-55) reduced the Pembertons Meadow side to 134 all out, despite 51 from Abid Riaz.
Sunny Gandhi continued his brilliant season for Caldy with 110 off 109 balls as his side reached 191 for nine against St Helens. Phil Murgatroyd (5-53) and Adam Friar (3-39) bowled well for Saints but their batsmen did not perform, as Caldy skipper Rich Battersby’s eight for 32 helped dismiss the visitors for 73.
Wavertree’s poor season continued as they were beaten at Skelmersdale.
The hosts reached 107 for six with three wickets apiece for Wavertree’s Rachid O’Neale (3-47) and Kamir Sohail (3-22). A close game saw the visitors all out for 105 with Mark Adams taking four for 21.
