Round-up from all the local rugby union games in Merseyside, Cheshire and West Lancashire

WIRRAL could not quite match visiting Vale of Lune in North One League and were on the wrong side of a 33-24 scoreline at Clatterbridge.

New Brighton had to settle for a 20-20 draw against Tyldesley at Hartsfield in a South Lancashire/Cheshire One tussle. Hoylake were pleased with an 18-5 victory at Ormskirk, Collegiate turned up trumps 16-10 at Orrell and Wigan came away 24-10 to the good from Winnington Park.

West Park fell 50-7 at Bowdon and there was agony for Warrington as they lost 15-14 at home to Glossop.

Sefton finished 18-12 to the good at home to Moore in Division Two. Mike Tanzi and Wayne Tyms crossed and Wayne Osborne hit a conversion and a brace of penalties.

Ruskin Park posted a 17-15 win against Vagabonds in the Isle of Man. There were also wins for Southport (20-7 against Trentham), Oldershaw (17-7 at the expense of Ramsey) and Ellesmere Port (19-14 against Oswestry).

Terry Williams scored three tries for Parkonians in a 37-14 success at Knutsford in Division Three. Paul Wigfield crossed twice and Liam Evans once with Williams also managing two conversions and a penalty for a 22 points haul.

Liverpool University kept their flawless record in a 22-12 finish against Capenhurst.

Wallasey claimed the Wirral derby against Port Sunlight 19-3. Prenton’s match at Helsby was postponed.

St Edwards just made it 24-22 at Windermere in North Lancashire One but Birchfield fell 14-6 at Bolton.

Division Two scores included Mossley Hill 24 Ashton-Under-Lyne 0 and Colne & Nelson 12 Crosby St Mary’s 8.
