Rob Tudor stars for West Cheshire AC in cross-country challenge

ROB TUDOR ensured West Cheshire AC got off to a flying start to this season’s cross-country campaign.

The over-45 veteran race ace was first home for his club who finished top of the Division Two team competition standings at the opening round of the North Staffs Cross-Country League at Winsford.

Tudor finished eighth after clocking 37:04 in the men’s race, and was supported by Dave Alexander (17th in 37:49), Andrew Clague (30th in 38:46), Mark Davies (72nd in 42:04), and Dave Hough (171st in 49:27).

Other West Cheshire members in action at Winsford included Jac Goodall who finished 10th in 9:21 in the under-11s boys race, while Cameron Weaver (fifth in 12:46) and Tom Harrop (24th in 14:58) completed the under-13s boys event.

Chris Harrop clocked 17:53 for ninth spot in the under-15s boys race, and Mary Radford finished 115th in 33:36 in the women’s race.

IAIN WEDGE spearheaded West Cheshire AC’s nine-strong contingent to the Roodee finishing line at the Chester Marathon.

Wedge completed the 26-mile 385-yard course in a time of 3:07.41 for 101st position overall and 27th spot in the over-40 men’s age category.

Neil McIntyre clocked 3:46:48 for 597th place (44th over-50), ahead of Mark Povey (3:50:52, for 783rd overall and 176th over-40), Tony Kennedy (3:54:57, for 891st (58th over-50), Brian Beattie (3:58:14, for 847th, sixth over-65), Darryl Pickering (3:58:52, for 1,050th, 123rd over-45), Michael Gandy (4:03:12, for 1,139th, 447th man), Angela Cook (4:03:35, for 1,179th, 74th lady), and Karen Billingsley (4:51:33, 2,014th, 57th over-45 lady).

FIXTURES this weekend include the first round of the Borders Road Running League at the Nova Centre, Bastion Road, Prestatyn, on Sunday (11am start).
