WIRRAL gained revenge for their narrow one-point cup defeat at the beginning of the season with an excellent display of defensive and counter-attacking rugby.
Wirral were pleased to go into half-time drawing 12-12 after two individual tries from fly-half James Annetts were cancelled by two tries from Tevita Liku and Adam Neale.
With the advantage of the wind in the second-half, Wirral scored a penalty and two converted tries through Phil Donaldson and captain Craig Harvey.
Anselmians came back into the game with Neale’s second try but Wirral hooker Jason Green scooted in for his second league try in four seasons. Captain Craig Harvey finished with 16 points.
BIRKENHEAD PARK had no answer to the power, pace and the determination of Waterloo.
Anthony Harvey forced his way over following good pressure by the Waterloo pack.
Liam Reeve added the conversion but two penalties from Danny Rich brought the visitors to within a point before Andy Trotter went over, converted by Reeve, with a penalty giving Waterloo a 17-6 advantage.
Rich and Reeve exchanged penalties before Ryan Mckie racked up a third converted by Reeve. Just before the break a try by Chris Jones made it 27-14 at half-time.
The second-half proved to be all Waterloo who added four more tries through Sean Colbourne (2), Trotter and Dan Palmer.
