Chester RUFC lose top spot in National Three North after defeat to Rossendale

CHESTER lost top place in National Three North to Darlington Mowden Park as they suffered a second successive loss.

Forward power in the end was a key factor for Rossendale who scored two late pushover tries to ensure victory.

Chester were missing key players but were in contention for most of the way although never actually holding the lead.

Liam McGovern gained a first-half touchdown for Chester. Lloyd Hayes converted and hit two penalties.

Marcus Lyon was credited with the second home try in the third quarter.

The winners managed five tries plus two conversions and a penalty.
