Waterloo RUFC lose to lowly Altrincham Kersal

WATERLOO lost to bottom of National Three North Altrincham Kersal in what was probably their worst performance of the season.

Despite leading 14-12 at half-time, the Blundellsands club were never really in this game and some serious talking needs to be done this week as to why after promising so much with the defeat of Birkenhead Park they turned in such an abject performance against a side where points should have been racked up.

Altrincham Kersal were the first to score with a try from Tony O’Connor. Waterloo replied with a try by Alec Reed from a rolling maul with two penalties from Liam Reeve affording the visitors a 11-5 lead.

Kersal came back with a second for O’Connor, the conversion by James Conville giving them the lead once more but a third penalty from Reeve put the Merseysiders ahead at half-time.

That was that for Waterloo as they appeared incapable of mounting anything serious in way of attack and paid the price as O’Connor went in for his hat-trick, a try that turned out to be the match-winning score.
