CALDY suffered a disappointing loss away to Bromsgrove with the home side scoring in the last minute of the game to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat, with a final score line of 30 points to 28.
Caldy could not have started the game any better, with good possession and territory, leading to two early penalties from the boot of their captain Richard Vasey on two and 11 minutes.
Caldy stretched their lead to 13 after 15 minutes when Andrew Soutar continued his good form and scored under the posts of a well worked training ground move.
Bromsgrove seemed to be shaken into action and a penalty through the boot of Ben Copson was followed by another well worked try on the stroke of half time by Critchlow after excellent interplay between the Bromsgrove backs to leave the score 13-8 to Caldy.
Caldy started the better in the second half too when Liam Devaney was found with an inch perfect long pass from fly half Vasey and beat his man before touching down in the corner.
Bromsgrove hit back with two tries from centre Lloyd Jones and winger Oliver Bache as Bromsgrove took the lead for the first time in the game. Caldy replied as Liam Devaney scored another try out wide and Rich Vasey kicked the touchline conversion as Caldy led 25-22. A penalty kick from the boot of replacement Curgenven brought the scores level again and with Rich Vasey off the field Andrew Soutar kicked a fine drop goal with five minutes to go that looked to have given Caldy the win.
Bromsgrove collected the kick off and retained the ball through several phases before the ball was passed wide to centre Lloyd Jones who scored in the corner for Bromsgrove to snatch the win.
